*If you would like to come and finances are stopping you from joining us, please get in touch with [email protected]* As we work to transform this world, where the needs of a small group are prioritised over the needs of everyone else and all of nature, we need to look at the way we work to bring about change so as not to recreate the separation and divisions of the past. Miki sheds light on aspects of new thinking that can support authentic, compassionate and inclusive change making, so we are not simply changing those in power and the names of things, but we are changing the fundamental logic that underpins our relationships and systems. If you join us for this three day training, you are likely to emerge empowered and equipped with the following:
Practices to support you in embracing nonviolence in thought, word, and action both personally and in any organisation you are part of
Facilitation tools for supporting decisions that work for everyone and attending to power differences in a room
Dialogue skills for connecting across differences
Perspectives and tools for understanding and engaging with your own and others’ power and privilege
An understanding of social and structural power and how to avoid reproducing existing dynamics
An approach to building alternative structures that anchor and embody your vision
Tools for creating systems that support collaboration
A path towards leadership that does not compromise others’ participation and wisdom
How we will deal with the money? How we share resources in an important part of this work and relevant in conversations about power and privilege. Miki offers her teaching on a gift economy basis as part of creating a world where resources flow to where they are needed. This involves sharing what our costs are for putting on the event and asking people to contribute on a voluntary basis to meeting them.
We invite you to stretch into giving as much less or much more than the average as you feel able and willing to and thank you for joining us on this is a complex but incredibly rich investigation.
There are fixed costs for food and accommodation at the venue. It is our intention that no one is restricted from coming due to limited access to resources, there are options to stay locally to reduce costs and some bursaries. More info on our costs are available on the Hawkwood listing.
"Power is the capacity to mobilise resources to attend to needs"
